At the moment, and probably for the time being, a dominant part of the German political elite seems to be obsessed with causing as much paralysis as possible, doing that to such an extent that the country is being made ungovernable.

Following the spectacular resignation this past Monday of Labor Minister Baerbel Bas (SPD), who complained about vicious attacks from the side of the Christian Democrats, the latter claimed there is nothing to these charges. That there is in fact something to these charges, is, however, confirmed by the SPD, which sees the coalition itself to be at stake, if the sabotage of legislation on labor, health and pension issues by the neo-liberal current of the CDU-CSU does not stop. The latter insists that budget cuts are without any alternative, because Germany can no longer afford the present size of the social welfare system. At the same time, both parts of the coalition believe Germany can afford spending several hundred billion euros for rearmament and weapons deliveries to Ukraine!
