South China Morning Post reports on Japanese press reports that the Takaichi government is considering a doubling of its five-year defense budget, up to over $500 billion. Japan is also in the process of revising its three key national security documents by the end of the year.

A preliminary draft reported by Kyodo News in September projected Tokyo would acquire about 52,000 unmanned systems, including some 10,000 long-range drones for land strikes and 1,300 for anti-ship attacks.
