Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly been pressuring President Trump to launch a large-scale attack on Iran as soon as the mid-term elections are over in the United States. “A return to full-scale war with Iran could help Netanyahu to form an emergency government after he and his far-right allies lost their parliamentary majority in last week’s elections,” AP reported on Monday. “One official said Netanyahu was working with senior officials in the U.S. administration to persuade Trump to launch a quick but extensive air campaign and that the president does not appear to have made a decision.”
The AP report came after news had emerged of a phone call between Netanyahu and Trump on Saturday. The fact of the phone call was first reported by The Wall Street Journal on Saturday morning but without revealing content.
