The low-grade war over the Strait of Hormuz continued on Friday night with a new U.S. strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island. President Trump described the military action as “minor,” while the Iranian media reported that two projectiles hit in the Suza area on the southeast coast of Qeshm Island. “They knocked out—they [the Iranians] built a little bit of an anti-aircraft device, and we knocked it out in about 15 minutes, maybe five,” Trump told reporters shortly after arriving in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday evening.

A rumor on Iranian social media claimed that the U.S. attack had been launched in response to the targeting of a U.S. F-18 fighter jet. The IRGC statement on the incident said nothing about the F-18 but did claim credit for shooting down two U.S. drones, an MQ-9 Reaper and an MQ-1 Gray Eagle, both of which are armed reconnaissance drones.
