Oct. 29—Diane Sare, independent U.S. presidential candidate, put out a statement Oct. 6 denouncing U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s new automatic war department, called the Autonomous Warfare Command, or AUTOWARCOM. On Sept. 30 in Quantico, Virginia, Hegseth announced the creation of the new command, to build autonomous and robotic capabilities across the joint force in what he called “the fastest peacetime shift in modern history.” “Today, with … AUTOWARCOM, we institutionalize—and we supercharge—the era of super intelligence [ie. artificial intelligence], robotics and autonomous systems, all in order to win,” he said.
At the same event, Hegseth announced a second initiative called Project Meridian, which proposes to team up the Pentagon’s chief technology officer, Emil Michael, with Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and Newt Gingrich to “identify the domains we must conquer, and capabilities we must master … to achieve technological and military dominance on the battlefield for decades to come.” Neither the Pentagon’s account nor press reports of the speech mention human control over the use of lethal force.
“Ukraine’s lesson is not that one type of drone wins wars, but rather the need for a purpose-built system that maximizes the ability to adapt,” Hegseth told the audience. “We will fuse procurement with operations at scale, and then allow warfighters and engineers and entrepreneurs to learn, adapt, and rapidly iterate on their domain and their mission.”
The command will be operational as of October 1, 2027.
Sare responded with a biting rebuke of the new initiatives, focused on the core danger: “Taking human beings out of decision-making roles could lead to nuclear war. Obviously that is the … main reason why, as President of the United States, I will end it.”
However, Sare also rejected Hegseth’s drone-war command as “a tool for billionaire members of the ‘Epstein Class’ to continue lining their pockets” with taxpayers’ money. The Autonomous Warfare Command will be run by that “patriotic billionaire,” ex-hedge fund CEO (Cerberus Capital Management) Stephen Feinberg, out of his Office of Strategic Capital (OSC) in the Pentagon, which is staffed by former executives of his hedge fund.
Sare pointed to a report by the Project on Government Oversight, which found “that Feinberg’s name appears in at least 20 Epstein documents, and Cerberus is mentioned no less than 360 times. Feinberg’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is merely a casual one when compared to the intimate friendship and business dealings Epstein had with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick—quite literally Feinberg’s ‘partner in crime’—who was allowed to lie his way through a Congressional hearing on the Epstein matter.”
“When Hegseth says ‘fuse procurement with operations,’ ” Sare continued, “he means skirting normal federal oversight and going directly through Feinberg’s Office of Strategic Capital (OSC) in the Pentagon, which is run by other former Cerberus executives. The OSC is effectively a slush fund looking for military companies in which to acquire stock equity, a form of defense contract ‘procurement’ which is not permitted by Department of Defense regulations.”
Sare noted that part of the reason for “fusing” military procurement and operations through the OSC slush fund is that the artificial intelligence (AI) bubble may be about to burst. If this policy is viewed together with Section 219 in the House version of the National Defense Authorization Act (Senate Section 1217), which calls for a merger of Israeli and American military technology, “you get a very disturbing picture,” she wrote. She continued:
I launched my campaign for the Presidency of the United States because I know that “We the People” do not believe our constitutional republic should be turned over to a bunch of perverse, sadistic Epstein-affiliated billionaires.
Rather, we must chart a new course, much more in keeping with the tradition of our founders who intended to defeat the evil legacy of the British Empire. Decades ago, then-presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche called for a Four Powers Agreement among the United States, Russia, China, and India, as the necessary prerequisite to a total reorganization of the bankrupt transatlantic financial system. We should not be trying to bail out a hyperinflated bubble of derivatives obligations by sucking the life-blood out of the real economy and the human race.
Previous American leaders from Alexander Hamilton to Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt successfully implemented American System economic methods to prevent large debt burdens from stifling the growth of the physical economy upon which we all depend. Reinstatement of the Glass-Steagall Act and the replacement of the Federal Reserve with a National Bank would be the first step. Partnering with China’s Belt and Road Initiative would ensure a speedy railroad to recovery.
