Whatever statistical somersaults may have been involved in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting that total employment in the U.S. economy dropped by 133,000 in February and then rose by 178,000 the next month, it should be noted that for the year, from March 2025 to March 2026, the gain in total employment was 240,000, an average, nearly negligible employment gain of 18,000 each month.
As for the manufacturing sector of the economy, which President Trump promised his tariff policies would bring roaring back, it has lost 104,000 jobs from March 2025 to March 2026, and 300,000 jobs since 2024.
