The British police arrested Jewish academic Haim Bresheeth, a child of Holocaust survivors and the founder of the Jewish Network for Palestine, following a speech he gave in London at a pro-Palestine demonstration, during which he said that Israel “cannot win against Hamas,” Middle East Eye reported yesterday.

He faces charges of supporting a proscribed organization, according to a police spokesman’s statement to media outlet Skwawkbox. In a video recording of his arrest, a police officer informs Bresheeth that he is being arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 for “making a hate speech.” Bresheeth was released on Nov. 2 without charge, after spending a night in custody, but remains under investigation.
