March 14, 2024 (EIRNS)—Yesterday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated his opposition to shipping Taurus missiles to Ukraine, arguing that the long-range weapons would require a level of tactical assistance from Berlin that contravenes the NATO nations’ mantra of containing the war in Ukraine, reported Defense News. He argued that the complex sequence of identifying targets and programming the weapon to strike them, theoretically as far away as Moscow, should remain in the hands of the Bundeswehr.
