Rosatom and China Atomic Energy Authority Directors Discuss Cooperation

Reflecting the growing cooperation in the field of nuclear energy between Russia and China, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev met with China Atomic Energy Authority Chairman Zhang Kejian at the construction site of the Xudapu nuclear power plant, now being built by Rosatom.

“Alexey Likhachev and Zhang Kejian discussed all the main issues of bilateral cooperation, including interaction on the construction of power units 7 and 8 of the Tianwan NPP, and power units 3 and 4 of the Xudapu NPP and the supply of equipment for the Chinese fast-neutron demonstration reactor CFR600, as well as promising topics,” TASS reported today.

At the Tianwan NPP, Rosatom, in cooperation with its Chinese partners, is installing Russian-designed VVER-1200 reactor plants which will become operational in 2028. Likewise, at Xudapu NPP, Power units 3 and 4 are also VVER-1200 reactors which will come online in 2027-2028.
