Dockworkers internationally staged a strike against ports being used to transport weapons, military equipment, or troops to various conflict zones. Supported by 25 trade unions worldwide, the strike was carried out on October 30, and affected 113 ports across 22 countries.

Under the slogan “Dockworkers do not work for war,” the unions demand a halt to the transport of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment through civilian infrastructure to active conflict zones, specifically targeting arms shipments to the Middle East and Ukraine.

Workers walked off their jobs in the ports of Piraeus in Greece, Genoa in Italy, France’s Le Havre, Spain’s Algeciras, Morocco’s Tangier Med, and India’s Nhava Sheva, among others. Union participation included ver.di in Germany; Ireland’s largest trade union, SIPTU; 3F in Denmark; and CGT Ports et Docks in France, as well as the Transport Workers Federation of India (WTWFI). The strikes coincide with a general strike in Italy and a national seamen’s strike in Greece over labor conditions and related issues.
