UN Satellite Center Finds Nearly All Structures in Israel’s ‘Gaza Buffer Zone’ Have Been Demolished

April 16, 2024 (EIRNS)—Nearly all the Palestinian structures within the Gaza so-called “buffer zone” have been destroyed, according to a report published on April 11 by the United Nations Satellite Center (UNOSAT) on April 11. The new study compares the status of October 2023 to that of late February 2024. To create this buffer zone, Israeli forces have been slashing through farmland and demolishing Palestinian homes and schools in Gaza Strip. The Israeli plans leave a “no man’s land” about 1 km wide, throughout the whole Gaza’s border, where Israeli troops would be able to see and apprehend anyone approaching.

But to accomplish this, the UN makes clear, Palestinian homes, businesses, schools, etc., are being eliminated, with tanks perched on the barren hills of Gaza’s border, where structures have been wiped out, to make sure no one returns. According to the UNOSAT satellite imagery, 3,033 buildings have been completely demolished, 327 seriously damaged, and 266 moderately damaged. UNOSAT found that between October 2023 and late February 2024, the destroyed Palestinian buildings in this buffer zone zoomed from 15% to 90%.
