President Donald Trump’s next campaign rally will be July 11 in New Hampshire. Attendees will be offered free masks and hand-sanitizing, said campaign spokesmen yesterday. This respects the intensified spread of COVID-19, especially in the Southern states right now.
Other leading Republicans are displaying caution. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) announced yesterday that he will not be attending the Republican National Convention in late August, which is the first time in 40 years he has missed one. His staying back is out of risk from the virus. Grassley is the oldest member of the Senate, at a vigorous 86; as president pro tem, he is fourth in line to be President, if anything happens to the President and Vice-President, and Speaker of the House. His state of Iowa is now dealing with points of resurgence of infection.
