Putin Reiterates: UN Security Council Permanent Five Leaders Expect To Meet in Person as Soon as the Pandemic Allows

Russian President Vladimir Putin today reiterated that the leaders of the UN Security Council Permanent Five member states—which he called the G5—will meet in person as soon as the pandemic permits. He said this in his address at the United Nations General Assembly General Debate, which opened this morning, and runs through Sept. 29. He was preceded by two of these leaders, President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping, who spoke among the seven other national leaders who addressed that body prior to Putin’s remarks. While there are distinct differences to be noted in their remarks, the grounds and urgency for a G5 meeting remain very clear, as well as the severe problems involved in the meantime.

Putin said, “In the current challenging environment, it is important for all countries to show political will, wisdom and foresight. The permanent members of the UN Security Council — those powers that, for 75 years now, have been bearing particular responsibility for international peace and security, the preservation of the foundations of international law — should take the lead here. Fully realizing this responsibility, Russia has suggested convening a G5 summit. It would aim at reaffirming the key principles of behavior in international affairs, elaborating ways to effectively address today’s most burning issues. It is encouraging that our partners have supported the initiative. We expect to hold such a summit — in person — as soon as the epidemiological situation makes it possible.”

Putin spoke of “our shared memory of the lessons of history, and the spirit of alliance which guided the anti-Hitler coalition participants who found it possible to rise above differences and ideological preferences for the sake of victory and peace for all nations on the Earth.”

This is very much in line with what President Xi had to say about the need for global cooperation against the pandemic, and for working to “foster over time, a new development paradigm.” He said that, “The baton of history has been passed to our generation.” Let us join hands to “build a new type of international relations, and a community for a shared future for mankind.”

There is also coherence of the G5 summit idea, with part of President Trump’s message at the UN today, which focused on what he called at one point, “America’s destiny as peacemaker.” He reviewed areas of the world, where he has brought “opposing sides together,” as in the recent Abraham Accords (Israel, the U.A.E. and Bahrain), the Serbia-Kosovo agreement, and “working to end the war in Afghanistan.” These same themes and additional examples (North Korea) were given in a singularly long introductory speech (live) to Trump’s video, given by U.S. Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft.

However, the other theme of Trump’s remarks was to “hold China accountable” for the COVID-19 pandemic, for pollution, and for other enumerated wrongdoings, including generating plastic trash, overfishing, destroying coral reefs, putting toxic mercury in the atmosphere, and more.

Trump was so strident in his criticisms of China—opening his remarks by re-hashing bogus charges of China spreading the “China virus,” that later, when the Chinese Ambassador to the UN gave his short (live) introduction to Xi Jinping’s video, the Ambassador began by denouncing “unilateralism, protectionism and bullying.” He said that, “the world is at a crossroads. The world needs more solidarity, and not confrontation.” He said that, “China rejects the baseless accusations” made against it, and will formally object.

Looked at from above, it is clear that all three major powers—Russia, China and the United States—are under unceasing assault by the geopolitical networks from the expiring British monetarist system, with their goal being to thwart the very collaboration Putin has proposed by his G5 summit call. In the case of Russia, we see the Navalny poisoning episode and the blatant Belarus operation in this light. In the case of China, look at the Hong Kong and Taiwan agitations.

In the case of the United States, the four years of assaults on the Presidency and Donald Trump are dramatic—Russiagate, impeachment, “racism,” and all the while, “China, China, China.” Trump is surrounded. Look at just this week. Yesterday, a new, 95-page report has been issued by the House Foreign Affairs Committee (Minority) on how China is responsible for covering-up and spreading COVID-19. Tomorrow, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will speak in Madison, at the Wisconsin state capitol, in a big-deal event to tell the American people how China must be countered.

The political antidote remains exposure of the British provenance and evil nature of the danger, and activation for understanding and promotion of real development. The legacy of Lyndon LaRouche is incomparable for the task.
