The New York Times Launches a New Charge of the Light Brigade

Today’s New York Times Sunday Review section is devoted to an all-out assault on Donald Trump. The lead piece is an Opinion, by the editorial board, consisting of what they call “opinion journalists,” as if we need reminding they have no interest in the truth, titled “End Our National Crisis: The Case Against Donald Trump.” It is an approximately 1,800- word stream of abuse recapitulating their groundless assertions of the last four years. The online version adds gravitas by being presented against a pitch-black background. We can only pick a few examples that demonstrate the depraved character of this piece and its authors.

The opening statement is “Donald Trump’s re-election campaign poses the greatest threat to American democracy since World War II.” Their sphere of vision being limited to their own lies, they charge, “He has abused the power of his office and denied the legitimacy of his political opponents, shattering the norms that have bound the nation together for generations.... He is a man unworthy of the office he holds.” Obviously, they count on their audience being the gullible offspring of those who have, for generations, accept the norm that if it’s not in the Times it isn’t so. The four years of lies aimed at impeaching or otherwise unseating the President are now all in the public record. Apparently, to the Times, lying on behalf of its goals is legitimate and uncovering the truth is the reverse.

From there, it continues, “Breaking with all of his modern predecessors, he has refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power.” Do they forget that it is their cherished Hillary Clinton who told Joe Biden not to concede under any circumstances? And wasn’t it Biden’s supporters who proposed a military coup against Trump in the event that he won?
