In his capacity as chairman of the Afican Union, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa named three special envoys to aid in ending the conflict in Ethiopia between the central government and the regional state of Tigray and its ruling Tigray People’s Liberation font.
Ethiopia’s State of Emergency Fact Check office said Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed “will be receiving the envoys to speak with them one on one.” The statement, however, stated that “news circulating that the envoys will be traveling to #Ethiopia” to mediate between the Federal Government and #TPLF’s criminal elements” was “fake.”
The envoys include former President of Mozambique Joaquim Chissano; Madame Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, former President of Liberia and Kgalema Motlanthe, former President of South Africa.
