U.S. authorities have announced that no special measures will be taken with passengers entering the country from the UK. The wisdom of that decision remains to be seen, especially in light of the fact that every day is already setting new COVID-10 records. According to Reuters, U.S. COVID-19-related deaths are closing in on 320,000, meaning a third of a million American deaths are now immediately upon us. As for the rate of new infections, the WHO reported that 1.6 million new cases were reported in the U.S. in the week to Dec. 20, a 14% increase from the previous week. California alone reported a half-million new cases in the past two weeks.
