As more facts come to light and more statements are made, the general shape of the Jan. 6 events on Capitol Hill shows that there was an outstanding vulnerability from a severe lack of preparation even when compared to two earlier pro-Trump rallies in Washington, D.C. since the Nov. 3, 2020 election. According to news updates, five people–the latest being a Capitol police officer–have died in connection with the violent breaching of the U.S. Capitol, and there have been 70 arrests. The chief of the U.S. Capitol Police has resigned and the House and Senate Sergeants at-arms have both been fired. A seven-foot high non-scalable fence has now been erected around the perimeter of the Capitol building.
