A 13-man international team from the World Health Organization arrived on January 14 in Wuhan to engage in discussions with their Chinese counterparts in an attempt to find the origin of the coronavirus as it developed in China. The team will be isolated for two weeks in accordance with Chinese law on travelers coming to China during this pandemic period. There will no doubt be discussions throughout that period with their counterparts, on Zoom or otherwise. WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus said at a press conference on the 14th that, with the discovery of ever new variants of the COVID virus, establishing a good international collaboration with China and other nations is absolutely essential in dealing with the epidemic, which experts say will last through 2021.
