In the face of the British Empire’s efforts to cordon off Russia and set the conditions for war, in much the same way it did in the period leading up to 1914, Russia is continuing to hone its own military capabilities through constant exercises. Upcoming will be the joint Russian-Belarusian Zapad 2021 exercise, set for Sept. 10-16. The Belarusian Defense Ministry reported yesterday that military trains carrying Russian troops and equipment were soon to begin arriving. The ministry noted that “the use of groupings of forces to ensure the military security of the Union State [of Russia and Belarus]” will be the focus of the drills.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported yesterday that a pair of Tu-160 strategic bombers flew a mission over the Barents and Norwegian Seas yesterday that lasted about seven hours. “At some sections of the flight route, the Russian strategic missile-carrying bombers were escorted by F-16 fighters of the Norwegian Air Force,” the statement said, adding that the bombers were supported by Mig-31 fighters.
