US Campaign of Daily Reconnaissance Flights Near Russia

An important component of the US/NATO military activities near Russia’s borders is formed by the daily reconnaissance flights and the occasional bomber flight. This morning, the Russian National Defense Control Center reported that Russian fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a flight of three B-52 bombers over the Bering Sea. After the US strategic bombers made a U-turn from Russia’s state border, the Russian fighters safely returned to their home airfields, it said. The Russians also intercepted a US Navy P-8A over the Pacific.
