In Tehran yesterday, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani warned that Iran has its own options should the U.S. resort to “other options” for dealing with Iran’s nuclear program, as Biden said the U.S. would do during his meeting with Bennett, should diplomacy fail. “The first meeting between Bennett and Biden and the emphasis on using ‘Other Options’ against Iran, while being an illegal threat to another country, establishes the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to reciprocal response to ‘Available Options,’ “ Shamkhani said in a post on his Twitter account on Agu. 28, reported Tasnim.
In remarks on Aug. 28, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei lashed out at the U.S. for its unchanged policies against Iran, saying, “The current U.S. government is no different from the previous one. They demand the same things that Trump demanded. Behind the scenes of U.S. foreign policy there lies a predatory wolf that sometimes changes into a cunning fox. Today’s situation in Afghanistan is an example of this.”
“Diplomacy should not be impacted by the nuclear issue. In the nuclear issue, the U.S. acted extremely shamelessly. They withdrew from the JCPOA but talked as if Iran had withdrawn from it. They ridiculed the negotiations. The Europeans acted like the U.S., too,” Khamenei said.
