Political action committees backing Donald Trump have raised $82 million during the first half of 2021, and now have $102 million cash on hand, according to reports from the Trump camp published by CNN and other media. CNN described this as “an unprecedented war chest at this stage in the election cycle for a former President.” A lot of the money is coming from small donors contributing online. The Trump team said they got 3.2 million contributions from January to June this year.
Trump continues to hammer at the “rigged elections,” along with a set of Bannon-like themes, such as attacking China, denouncing immigrants and other idiotic hot-button issues. He responded to supposed revelations this week that he had tried to pressure the Department of Justice to denounce the “rigged elections,” stating: “The corrupt and highly partisan House Democrats who run the House Oversight Committee yesterday released documents—including court filings dealing with the rigged election of 2020—that they dishonestly described as attempting to overturn the election. In fact, it is just the opposite. The documents were meant to uphold the integrity and honesty of elections and the sanctity of our vote. The American People want, and demand, that the President of the United States, its chief law enforcement officer in the country, stand with them to fight for Election Integrity and to investigate attempts to undermine our nation.”
