Russian state space agency Roscosmos and the Mexican Space Agency (AEM) signed an agreement to cooperate on “the Exploration and Use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes” yesterday in Mexico City, during a visit of a Russian economic delegation to Mexico City, led by Russia’s Labor and Social Protection Minister Anton Kotyakov.
The agreement identifies a wide range of areas for potential cooperation over the medium and long term between the two nations’ space agencies, which, if activated, could really get the AEM into serious action. Areas such as space science and exploration, including astrophysics, planetary studies, the study of space materials and biology; remote sensing of Earth, satellite communications and navigation, space meteorology, launching services—and manned space flight—are named.
