At first the bans were on Twitter and Facebook. Then, with Parler, they moved to the Apple and Google app stores, and to Amazon Web Services. Today, they have moved directly to financial transactions.
Following bans of Mint Press News, Alan Macleod, and Caleb Maupin during the week, Consortium News became on Sunday, May 1, the latest casualty of a recent trend by PayPal to deactivate the accounts of activists and journalists pushing back against the insane flight- forward toward nuclear war.
With no prior notice or explanation, PayPal sent Consortium News an email on Sunday to alert them that “You can’t use PayPal anymore. … We noticed activity in your account that’s inconsistent with our User Agreement and we no longer offer you PayPal services.” Furthermore, any money in the account—nearly $10,000 in this case—will be held for 180 days.
