Atlantic Council President Frederick Kempe’s “We Must Stop Putin in Ukraine” op-ed for CNBC on June 5 sounded like he feared the coming of D-Day for NATO’s imperial policy of crushing the world for London and Wall Street. In content and tone the column displayed complete hysteria and war madness. It may possibly be taken as well as an attack on statements by French President Macron June 4, that “Russia must not be humiliated” and that there must be an “exit ramp” from the Ukraine war. Kempe attacks that phrase directly. Kempe began with an order to the reader: “Ukraine must win. Russia must lose…. So, let’s first stipulate that you agree with that end goal, as has everyone from U.S. President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.” These four don’t define much of a spectrum, but, regardless, “you” had better get on it, Kempe says: “To embrace anything less would be immoral, set a historical precedent with catastrophic costs, and unravel what remains of our fraying international order of rules and institutions….
