De Gaulle’s Grandson Blasts Western Policy of War and Destruction in Ukraine

Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of General Charles de Gaulle, spoke at this year’s Russia Day on June 14, at the Russian Embassy in France. He didn’t mince words on his disappointment in France’s leadership, which has left it a weak and submissive nation, and at odds with its former ally, Russia.

“I come here to state loud and clear that it is in the interest of France to keep good relations with Russia and to say that we must work together to help the union and security of our continent, as well as the balance, progress and peace of the whole world,” de Gaulle said. “Everyone recognizes today the responsibility of the United States in the current conflict, the disastrous role of NATO, which is constantly expanding, and the reckless policy of the Ukrainian government. The latter, strengthened by beautiful promises and nourished by American and European illusions, has led a very condemnable policy towards the Russian-speaking populations of Donbass, multiplying discrimination, despoilment, embargoes and bombardments.”

He continued: “the Westerners have unfortunately let Zelensky, his oligarchs and the neo-Nazi military groups lock themselves into a spiral of war.” He then noted how the American-led coalition wants to “provoke a new East-West confrontation whose sole purpose is to weaken and divide Europe in order to impose their directives, their economy and their system.”
