Besides Sweden and Finland, the NATO summit, set for June 29-30 in Madrid, will have some other invited guests as well. In Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is planning to attend, following the G7 summit June 26-28. It will be the first time that a Japanese prime minister has ever attended a NATO summit. Australia and South Korea have also been invited to participate. In April, the Japanese Foreign Minister attended a NATO foreign ministerial, also the first time for Japanese participation.
