China’s space program carried out a flawless docking of its new Wentian space laboratory module, launched by a Long March 5B rocket July 24, with the orbiting space station core module Tiangong. The docking of two orbiting space vehicles each weighing more than 20 tons was unprecedented. The combined station is now more than 50 feet long, with multiple living quarters, robot arms and docking ports; the solar arrays on the new laboratory module deployed properly; and the station is clearly ready for more international modules and experiments.
