The U.S. is short on medical and healthcare workers, and a new report from the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) focusses on the mounting physician shortage. On June 11, the AAMC states in a press release, “The United States could see an estimated shortage of between 37,800 and 124,000 physicians by 2034, including shortfalls in both primary and specialty care.”
The study, “The Complexities of Physician Supply and Demand: Projections from 2019-2034,” was done by looking at data from before the COVID-19 pandemic started, which in many ways has made the projections worse. (https://www.aamc.org/media/54681/download?attachment)
