Speaking in front of the European Parliament, ahead of an EU emergency meeting for contingencies on energy set for July 26, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen forecast a complete stop of Russian gas to Europe and announced an EU emergency plan to be ready in two weeks.

EU member states have already diversified, von der Leyen said, and now they import 75% more LNG (mostly from the USA), while Russian pipeline gas is 33% down. However, this is not enough to guarantee energy security, and therefore, there will be a proposal with emergency measures coordinated at an EU level.
