In addition to NASA’s release of the Webb telescope’s amazing images from deep space, a few of its images of Solar System objects, including Jupiter and three of its moons, were also released. These were created earlier, while the telescope was going through the commissioning process, and also had astonishing resolution and detail which surprised the scientists receiving the data. Not only can the rings of Jupiter and the moons be seen very clearly, but so can the shadow on the clouds of Jupiter cast by one of the moons, Europa.
NASA experts now anticipate the possibility of watching the signatures of volcanic plumes depositing matter on the surface of Europa or other moons.
