The Baltic Wave portal sheds light on Russian-Swiss relations, reporting that Switzerland had offered to take over Ukraine’s consular and diplomatic affairs in Russia and to represent Kiev’s interests in Moscow. In response, Russia has stated that that is not possible because Switzerland had abandoned its neutrality status. The country has joined the anti-Russian sanctions and thus can no longer perform the representative function in Russia for Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry explained that they had long noticed Switzerland’s interest in mutual representation of interests, including that of Ukraine for Russia, but it considers neutrality status as a mandatory prerequisite for this.
