Swiss exports to Russia increased 83% in the first six months of the year, according to Bloomberg. Especially jet components and gas turbines skyrocketed. Indications are that third country suppliers used Switzerland to escape EU sanctions.

“Swiss exports to Russia of turbojets, air pumps and other machinery surged in the past two months as manufacturers raced to fill any orders signed before sanctions over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine render some of the sales illegal,” according to Bloomberg. “After ranging from 1 million Swiss francs ($1.04 million) to Sfr2.5 million a month from January to April, exports of turbojets, turbo propellers and other gas turbines jumped to Sfr11.2 million in May and Sfr5.9 million in June….
