CGTN reported on Sept. 5 that some 240,000 metric tons of Ukraine’s agricultural products were shipped out of Ukrainian Black Sea ports on Sept. 4 alone, and that more than 2 million metric tons have been exported under the UN- and Turkey-brokered agreement since July 22.
It has in part been documented by investigators that no significant amount of this food has gone to Africa, although the World Food Program had been emphasizing Ukrainian grain as its main product for food relief worldwide against growing famine. According to Associated Press on Aug. 20, the World Food Program’s head David Beasley announced that with U.S. funds the WFP would “purchase 150,000 tons of Ukrainian grain over the next several weeks” to avert famine in Africa and Southwest Asia; and that this would multiply by six, such aid already sent.
