City of London/Wall Street ‘Obsession’ Behind Targeting Russia

Investment counselor and author Alex Krainer gave an interview to EIR's Harley Schlanger Saturday, in which he described what he is convinced is behind the NATO war against Russia. In his book The Grand Deception: The Truth About Bill Browder, the Magnitsky Act and Anti-Russian Sanctions, he writes that the “Cold War mindset” behind the 1990s Shock Therapy imposed on Russia was a commitment to “defeat, dismember and loot Russia... leave it so weakened and impoverished that it could never again challenge American hegemony.” Asked if this commitment is the prevailing idea driving the war danger today, he said it is more than a commitment: “it is an obsession” of western leaders.

He identified the collapse of the financial system of the unipolar order as the reason for the urgency to defeat Russia, and spoke of the importance of the emergence of a new financial system, which threatens the hegemony of the Anglo-American powers still promoting the failed ideas of imperial geopolitics. He gave a brief report on his participation last week in a Eurasian Union conference in Baku, where he was a speaker, adding that the optimism there was a powerful antidote to the pessimism strangling the west.
