Because of the accelerating, not decelerating, pace of what has now been officially characterized by Russia as the NATO-Russia conflict—exactly the war that you were assured we would never get into, but which Russia’s Maria Zakharova has now stated “is a confrontation between Russia and NATO in Ukraine"—we call attention to the first exchange in Helga Zepp-LaRouche’s webcast of today. It is an example of, not an “information-packed briefing,” but of the method of Plato’s Socratic dialogue. The method used is “thinking by negation,” revealing to the listener/questioner that, not only does he/she have the “facts” wrong. More than that, “in fact,” they will never apprehend what is actually going on, no matter how many facts they accumulate, unless they change the way they see the whole world. “How you see the world depends on how you look at it.”
For example, seeing from the bottom up, the “bad infinity” of details about conflicts, parties, ideologies, “rules of law,” crimes and punishments, or from the top down, seeing, not a sea of details, but a complex domain, viewed from the standpoint of an intention, a voluntarily adopted mission to ensure the survival of the entire human race, now confronted with extinction, whether self-induced by war, biologically induced by disease, or both, involves a choice of method. The means for durable survival is knowable, and available. Which path humanity will choose, can be directed, if not determined, by which path each of us chooses. That outlook is the only efficient anti-Malthusian antidote to the folly of the present.
The very survival of the human race may depend on how rapidly those reading what Zepp-LaRouche says here can make others aware, not merely of the solutions the Schiller Institute offers to the accelerating economic self-cannibalization now leading to thermonuclear war; not only of the social and moral self-destruction of “the Anglosphere"; but most importantly, to embrace the Socratic method, by which, in thinking-by-negation, by consciously, willfully changing axioms, by educating the “emotions,” by developing the heart to be, as the mind must become, we may choose to act in the interest of the other, and therefore, ourselves, before it is too late.
The Present Danger of Nuclear War Conforms to What We Have Said: There Is No Peace Without Development
Helga Zepp-LaRouche Strategic Webcast
Friday, November 25, 2022
HARLEY SCHLANGER: Hello, I’m Harley Schlanger. Welcome to our weekly webcast with Schiller Institute founder and chairwoman Helga Zepp-LaRouche.
It’s Friday, November 25, 2022. And we’re at a moment that’s extremely interesting on the one hand, but quite dangerous on the other. We just had another Schiller Institute conference, the third in a series, just this last week, and we can be talking about that later, but I think we should start with the fact that you’re not getting a picture of what’s actually going on, the real danger that exists in the war in Ukraine, with the media basically saying Russia’s being defeated, there’s a lull in the war. It’s actually a very different picture, isn’t it, Helga?
HELGA ZEPP-LAROUCHE: Oh yes. I think what this situation proves is that the idea that more weapons to Ukraine will lead to peace, but the opposite is the case. You see a daily escalation. The recent phase is that Russia resorted to making a complete barrage on the electricity grid in Ukraine. So many Ukrainian cities, Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov are without electricity; with the winter approaching, the situation in Ukraine becomes quite desperate. But as the Russian ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia just emphasized, this is the reaction to the reckless increase of weapons deliveries to Ukraine. The West has been sending—and unfortunately, Germany as well, and the United States obviously—they have been sending more modern weapons, without which the Ukraine war would have ended already. Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman in Moscow, said that basically everything the Ukrainian army is doing is coming from the West, mercenaries, training, intelligence. So, de facto, we have a war between NATO and Russia already. And people should really be aware of what that means.
This could go out of control at any moment, and we were very close to that when these two Ukrainian missiles hit the territory in Poland, where Zelenskyy had insisted these were Russian missiles, despite the fact that President Biden, from Bali, had said no, there is no intelligence to support the idea that it was Russian missiles. In the meantime, there has been an enormous amount of discussion that, given the fact that both the United States and Russia have complete surveillance over the territory and airspace of Ukraine, everybody knows what is the trajectory of these missiles, so there are a lot of questions: Was it a deliberate, false flag operation? Why was there no defensive action—after all the Polish border is the NATO border. Why was there no attempt to shoot these missiles down? Why was there immediately a whole barrage of NATO meetings, as if NATO is sitting practically in the tracks for any incident to happen.
So this should really wake people up, that we have to have a different conception, because the only victims of this are the Ukrainian people. I think even Mayor Klitschko of Kiev is encouraging people to leave Kiev, to find some place to somehow make it through these horrible days and weeks. So I think the development of this has absolutely shown that the idea of more weapons to Ukraine is not going to end the war.
The Turkish Foreign Minister just emphasized that: He does not see a military solution to this war, and that’s why a different approach has to be taken. But we have to expect that it is getting much worse and more dangerous, because the Royal United Services Institute, the oldest think tank in the U.K. had basically suggested that there should be a “Cuban missile crisis on steroids” over Crimea, that Ukraine should try to retake Crimea. This would lead to an extremely dangerous situation, but only in this utmost moment of danger would there be a possibility to sit down.
Well, this is just insanity: This is playing with the existence of civilization. And unfortunately, the Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Maj. Gen. Volodymyr Havrylov basically said they expect something to happen before the end of the year in terms of Ukraine retaking Crimea. Then, there is all this talk, Politico and so forth are reporting that Biden administration expects that Russia would use chemical weapons before they use nuclear weapons, and that despite the fact that the Russians are saying, almost on a daily basis, that the use of nuclear weapons is not an option for Ukraine, because they have said very clearly, they will use nuclear weapons only if the existence of the Russian Federation is at stake. I can only say that people should really be aware that this present course, we have to change.
