Real Estate Harbinger: Canadian Mortgage Firm Blocks Investors’ Funds

Bloomberg News reported Nov. 9 that rapidly rising mortgage interest rates had pushed the Canadian commercial real estate project lender Romspen Investment Corp. into blocking all redemptions of its investors’ funds, because “loan payoff activity remains suppressed"; in other words, the borrowers of its loans are not making payments and defaulting.
