U.S. Is Working at Refining the Definition of "State Sponsor of Terrorism"

Ukraine’s Mad President Volodomyr Zelensky and many U.S. Congress members have been charging that Russia is a terrorist state. The U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice, Beth Van Schaack, however, disagrees. She explains that Russia does not meet the U.S. definition of “State Sponsor of Terrorism.” Yesterday, the European Union (EU) adopted a resolution calling Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism,” but Van Schaak said that it does not fit the U.S. definition. She said that Washington is “exploring other potential designations” that would permit additional sanctions on Moscow, but she said that was unnecessary, because the U.S. is “utilizing our sanctions to an incredible degree.”
