U.S.-Africa Summit Concludes with Up-Talk and ‘Initiatives,’ for Same Old Global NATO Stance

President Joe Biden gave a short showcase speech this morning, the last day of the three-day U.S.-Africa Summit, attended by heads of state of 49 African nations, plus the rotating African Union Chair, Senegal’s President Macky Sall, the AU Commission Chair Moussa Faki Mahamat, and President of Ethiopia Mme. Sahle-Work Zewde (whom the U.S. invited instead of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed). In short, the many meetings of the event, whose theme was, “Prosper Africa,” were replete with announcements of new initiatives and happy talk, but outstandingly in support of the existing Western world “rules-based” context, in which the 1.4 billion residents of Africa and their 55 nations have been deliberately suppressed for decades.

The first day, forums on different topics were held; on the second day, doing business in Africa was a theme; today was dedicated to policy among heads of state.
