G20 Finance Ministers Statement Does Not Include Language Attacking Russia

TASS reports that the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Bengaluru, India, adopted a joint statement that does not include language condemning Russia for its special military operation in Ukraine. According to a document made available to TASS, “All G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors agreed to paragraphs 1, 2 and paragraphs 5 to 17 along with Annexes 1 and 2.” Paragraphs 3 and 4, which were adopted from last year’s G20 summit in Bali, were condemning Russia’s actions in Ukraine, however, they were not approved by Russia’s and China’s representatives. “Paragraphs 3 and 4 of this document, as adapted from the G20 Bali Leaders’ Declaration (15-16 November 2022), were agreed to by all member countries except Russia and China,” the document says.
