U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby went on “Face the Nation” yesterday to declare that the U.S. is in Syria to stay, no matter what anyone else says or does. “And here’s what’s not going to change, Margaret, the mission and ISIS is not going to change,” he told CBS News anchor Margaret Brennan. “We have under 1,000 troops in Syria that are going after that network, which is, while greatly diminished, still viable and still critical. So we’re going to stay at that task.”
“The President is committed to keeping those 900 or so troops in Syria?” Brennan asked. “That’s right. Absolutely,” Kirby replied.
