Lula and Modi Discuss Urgent Need To Bring Peace to Ukraine

On the sidelines of the recent G7 meeting in Hiroshima, Japan, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss global matters, and in particular the Ukraine War. Lula noted the countries’ strategic partnership and emphasized that “they are greatly relevant countries for the design of a new global policy.” Modi reported that Brazil and India are not “neutral countries” in the war between Russia and Ukraine, but they are nations that are highly interested in the maintenance of world peace. He stated that he was interested in working with Brazil to find a peaceful solution to the European conflict.

Despite sabotage and foot dragging by the London, Washington, and their Kiev puppets—who insist that there can be no negotiations with Moscow unless: a) Russia returns to its pre-2014 borders (i.e., abandons Crimea and the Donbass); and b) Putin is removed from office as President of Russia—Lula, the Vatican, China and a half-dozen African heads of state continue to press for negotiations, each on their own track.

For example, the Chinese envoy for these matters, Li Hui, has already traveled to Kiev and Warsaw for talks, and will now proceed to Berlin, Paris, Brussels, and Moscow.

Similarly, the Presidents of six African nations—Egypt, Zambia, Congo, Uganda, South Africa and Senegal—have also urged Ukraine to accept opening peace talks with Russia without their non-starter preconditions. The six plan to visit Moscow and Kiev to urge both sides to come to the negotiating table.
