U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. weighed in on the matter of freedom of the press. He tweeted yesterday that the U.S. “actively persecutes journalists and whistleblowers” instead of championing free speech. “This isn’t the Soviet Union. The America I love doesn’t imprison dissidents.” Kennedy said he would pardon Julian Assange, and he named a number of “other brave truth-tellers,” such as Edward Snowden, who deserve similar exoneration.
