This is a variant of the saying “There is no honor among thieves.” The inflationary talk, last seen around and at the NATO summit in Vilnius, about the unity and strength of the alliance, is not worth much when it comes to real stuff. Germany is just experiencing it on the issue of how to repair battle tanks given to Ukraine. Many of those tanks, if not destroyed already by Russia, need repair or maintenance, and their number grows by the day.
Idea number one: A center for repair was to be built jointly by the German defense companies Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and the Polish company PGZ. According to informed circles, however, PGZ is said to have demanded prices that are ten times higher than usual. Since Poland was unwilling to talk about it, Germany called off the deal. The Germans were also expected to repair the Polish battle tanks sent to Ukraine, of which half are not combat ready.
