Today's IAEA Update on ZNPP: Kiev's Claims Still Baseless

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been kept busy recently, physically examining the various claims coming out of Kiev about the Russian mining of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). Today Director General Rafael Grossi said that they had checked various parts of the facility, including “sections of the perimeter of the large cooling pond,” and that they “conducted regular walkdowns across the site.” He repeated that, again, they had found no “visible indications of mines or explosives.” He added: “With military tension and activities increasing in the region where this major nuclear power plant is located, our experts must be able to verify the facts on the ground. Their independent and objective reporting would help clarify the current situation at the site, which is crucial at a time like this with unconfirmed allegations and counter allegations.”

He specified in particular that they were next going to examine the rooftops of units #3 and #4. Just yesterday, Kiev’s Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) issued their new claim that Russia had placed what appeared to be explosives on the rooftops of those two units.
