The Wall Street Journal now claims that a secretive FSB unit, the Department for Counterintelligence Operations (DKRO), which they cite as responsible for the case against their reporter Evan Gershkovich, is suspected and/or responsible “for a string of strange incidents": the mysterious death of a diplomat’s dog, the flattening the tires on U.S. embassy vehicles, following the children of an ambassador ... and for feces left in the toilets of their targets! As the Journal puts it, the DKRO went as far as to leave “feces in unflushed toilets at diplomats’ homes and in the suitcase of a senior official visiting from Washington.” Their sources are said to be senior Western officials, Russian journalists, and analysts who have fled Russia.
