Brits Brainstorm How To Make Green Poverty Less Unappealing

“A backlash against climate-friendly [sic] policies is under way in rich democracies,” frets London’s The Economist, worried that the Anglo-American imperium is losing its power over nations through “Green” ideologies.

Donald Trump denounces the transition to electric cars as “a transition to hell.” British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has scuttled plans for eliminating combustion engines, as imposing “significant costs on working people.” The authors note that many do not want to pay higher prices in the name of combatting “climate change,” while others wonder why they should sacrifice while other countries do not.

The solutions? They like carbon taxes, although they’ve been most effectively deployed “by stealth: using emissions-trading schemes that few voters understand.” Another great idea is to stop making people install heat pumps. Instead, require utilities to install huge heat pumps every block and then connect the houses to it.
