Harley Schlanger, a spokesman for the Schiller Institute, was interviewed live on two prominent TV news programs in Southwest Asia this week, on the escalating cycle of violence in the region. On Monday, Oct. 9, he was on Iran’s Press TV, and Thursday, Oct. 12, on Beirut’s Al Mayadeen, the sole guest for 20 minutes on its main evening news program. In both interviews, he was asked to comment on the crisis, questions such as “Do you believe it was an ‘intelligence failure’ by Israel? Will the U.S. become involved? (Press TV). On Al Mayadeen, the theme was media disinformation, including why Biden initially accepted the story of Hamas beheading babies, and do Americans believe such stories.
The host on Al Mayadeen asked about the Blinken mission, and Schlanger reviewed Blinken’s background as a protégé of Madeleine Albright, who once said the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children by sanctions was an acceptable price to get rid of Saddam. The host exclaimed, “You have just broken major news—I didn’t know of Blinken’s connection to Albright!”
