With the country and the Congress opposing yet another round of funding for Ukraine, President Biden’s administration jumped on Hamas’ Oct. 7 assault on Israel to get another $61 billion to Ukraine by proposing to tie it to an $11 billion fund for Israel. Yesterday Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) countered, beginning to circulate a three-page memo, “Differentiating Ukraine and Israel,” around Capitol Hill. It states: “The administration seeks to link Ukraine and Israel funding. This is a grave error that betrays a lack of strategic focus. Each conflict is distinct and represents a different claim on U.S. interests.” Senators such as Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Roger Marshall (R-KS) are also now voicing the need for two separate votes.
