Apparently, Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) now agrees that Hamas has U.S.- and EU-made weapons that were originally sent to Ukraine. Just a day ago, the GUR argued that it was both theoretically and practically impossible for U.S. contraband weapons to end up in the hands of Hamas.
The catch is that, today in Ukrinform, the GUR maintains that Russia captured the weapons from Ukraine, and then turned them over to Hamas so as to discredit Ukraine. Further, writes Ukrinform: “As part of the Kremlin’s disinformation campaign, these fakes should form the basis of a number of ‘revealing publications’ and ‘investigations’ in the Western media, Ukraine’s defense intelligence emphasizes.”
And then the secret of the overnight re-branding of their story about contraband weapons is revealed. Ukrinform continues: “To make publications more convincing, the Russian special services intend to use the relevant comments by the traitor from the Ukrainian Border Guard Service, Senior Lieutenant Ruslan Syrovyi who recently fled to Moscow. Another provocation by the enemy is aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the complete cessation of security assistance from Western partners, the Main Intelligence Directorate says.”
Evidently, a relatively high member of their own Border Guard Service has just defected to Moscow, and it seems that he has stories to tell, regarding what does and does not cross Ukraine’s borders. Another day in Kiev, and the GUR doesn’t even blink, as they perform their pirouette.
